OFFSHORE: All in all it wasn't too bad a week for the offshore brigade with light to moderate (5 to 15 knot) south easterlies and a nominal 1.0m-1.5m swell most days. Thursday and Friday, when the winds cranked up a notch or two, were a bit ordinary but if you were desperate and dateless they were fishable.
Coral Trout
The middle reef belt was again worth a look with Chardon's Reef producing Spanish mackerel, although in lesser numbers than last week. A few wahoo were also responding well to fast trolled Hex Heads out that way. On North Reef the catch was sweetlip, moses perch, snapper, pearl perch, black tip reef shark and venus tusk fish. This week's standouts, however, came from wide of The Coffees. Trekka 2 fished there on Wednesday and came back with sweetlip, hussar, moses perch, pearl perch, northern bluefin tuna and coral trout. Mark Hansen from Tewantin (above) is pictured with the day's top weight 5.2kg trout.
Northern Bluefin Tuna
And from the same three quarter day charter, Kevin Ricter from Lake Cooroibah (above) was more than happy to pose with his 7.0kg northern bluefin tuna.

Also from the same charter we have Kyle Gunn from Cooroibah (above left) with his colourful 3.5kg coral trout. Closer to home, Sunshine Reef was the spot for sweetlip, moses perch, gold spot cod, venus tusk fish, black tip reef shark and, close in towards the shark nets; yellowfin tuna and northern bluefin tuna. Ash McCorkell from Warrnambool, Victoria (above right) trolled that area with gold Halco Laser Pro lures last Monday and came back with one yellowfin and the 12kg (est) longtail he's pictured with. The longtails were also responding well to drifted soft plastics and cast slugs close-in from Sunshine to Peregian.
