There was so much happening on the water this week that we had to add another page to cope with some of the overflow and even than we had to leave some out. Sincere apologies to those who didn't make the report.
The mahi-mahi, as already mentioned, were in good numbers as Christine Killip from Sydney (below) discovered when she joined a half day Noosa Blue Water Charters excursion to North Reef on Tuesday. Christine did well to stay connected and boat this 8kg dolphin fish as it apparently went aerial on a number of occasions (as they do) which often sees them spitting hooks in mid flight. The bait used to attract this prized sport fish was the ever faithful pilchard floater.

And the 'Dollies' were everywhere this week as young Riley Thompson (right) found when he and his dad made a run up to Double Island Point on Wednesday morning.

While they were bottom bashing they spotted a small school of dolphin fish near the boat and started peppering them with slugs and poppers.

Riley's 110mm Rooster Popper was soon taken by the 7kg (est) mahi-mahi he's posing with, which was a good test for his new 3kg-5kg Nitro rod which performed superbly.

Local gun angler Mark Arnall (below) hit the bay on New Year's Day and had a ball trolling whole baits on a Spaniard Special around Jew Shoal, then out at Sunshine Reef, coming back with a couple of Spanish mackerel, top weight 7kg.

And the day before, Matt (pictured below) and his good buddy Luke were in the bay on their jet ski when their trolled slimy mackerel (on a white Davo's Spaniard Special troll rig) was hit hard by this 15kg northern bluefin tuna. They also spent a bit of time at Sunshine Reef and added an 8kg mahi-mahi and a 2.5kg spotted mackerel to their day's tally.
