Pitzy Folk, right, took out the Davo's 'Fish of the Week' prize last week with this 15kg Spanish Mackerel, but as we'd pulled the film from the camera barely an hour before he weighed it in, we've had to wait till this report to post his photo.

Pitzy, who happily calls both Melbourne and Noosa home (depending on the weather and the time of year) tempted this quality Spaniard by trolling a Rapala CD18 'Blue Mac' lure in Laguna Bay last Sunday. He was armed with a Daiwa short stroker 10kg rod and a Shimano Calcutta 700 reel loaded with 10kg line.

The holidays are still in full swing, as indicated by the number of young guns weighing in the bread and butter species. Alex Arnall, below left, landed this 0.635kg Flathead in the Woods Bays on Thursday afternoon using a fresh Prawn on a 2/0 hook as his draw card. His outfit was a Shimano 2000 threadline combo loaded with 3kg line and 30lb trace. And nine year old Sonny Mossop, below centre, boated a number of fish drifting the Noosaville stretch on Friday night but the 0.65kg Bream he's holding was his standout. He was using an Abu spin combo, 4kg line and Mullet gut on a 2/0 hook.

Gympie lad Danny Rodger, above right, was also trying his luck on the water on Friday night and nailed the 0.53kg Trevally he's posing with casting and retrieving a 40gm red chrome slug lure around the pylons at Harbourtown. Danny was kitted out with a Butterworth NorEaster rod and a Shimano 4000 reel loaded with 2kg line.
