PAGE ONE - OFFSHORE REPORT

OFFSHORE: It wasn't overly exciting on the offshore scene earlier in the week. Moderate to fresh (15 to 20 knot) south easterlies dominated up until Friday afternoon and while the odd day could have been considered fishable, certainly in Laguna Bay, there wasn't a lot of action to be had on the outside reefs until the winds eventually backed off. The blue water boys made the most of the light to moderate conditions over the weekend. A few even made the long run to Double Island Point where good catches of snapper to 5kg, lots of gold band snapper and the odd quality red emperor were reported. They left them biting.
Mulloway or Jewfish

The bar crossing presented a bit of a challenge either side of low tide but those who took their time didn't have too much of a problem. North Reef seemed to be by far the most popular destination and while there were plenty of pan sized fish boated, there was the odd standout as well. Squire, snapper, teraglin jewfish, moses perch, pearl perch, venus tusk fish, estuary cod and hussar made up the bulk of the catch with large mouth nannygai and mulloway a bonus.
Local angler Will Vine (above) fished wide on North Reef on Sunday with Noosa Blue Water Charters and boated the day's top weight, a 12kg+ mulloway.
Large Mouth Nannygai and Snapper

And pictured above, from the same three quarter day charter, we have Bruce Jorgensen and Brian Lang with a 3kg large mouth nannygai and 2kg snapper.
Closer to home, Sunshine Reef was the spot for snapper (south and west), moses perch, venus tusk fish and mowong while Jew Shoal produced snapper.
