|Luderick, a notoriously finicky,
vegetarian sport fish, attract a die-hard following of anglers who gather
every year down at the Noosa River
mouth to do battle with them. These fish arrive on their annual spawn run
early in June, although July and August
are the peak months for targeting them.
While you will catch the odd luderick in the estuary system as far up as Tewantin, the only area where you can really successfully target them is at the river mouth car park rocks, the 'Platforms' and, to a lesser extent, the snags between
there and the Woods Point.
Best baits are 'Cabbage' and 'Weed'. Cabbage grows on rocks around the coastline with the best place to harvest the good quality stuff being off the rocks down at Coolum Beach. Weed can be gathered from around storm water outfalls where they feed into the estuary and in the Noosa Waters canals. For more information, see Fishing Noosa, 'The Book'--->
