The 2014 Noosa River to Reef Family Fishing Classic, going by the feedback from the large crowd, was another triumph for this family friendly event. The weather was an improvement on last year although a downpour on Saturday night caught a few anglers out on the water without their wet weather gear. There were some quality fish entered in the competition and the mega sized 'Reef Science' live fish tank, a new and important feature at the competition, turned out to be a major draw card. Apart from the odd tailor and whiting, the weigh-in team tagged thirty eight flathead and eight mangrove jacks before releasing them back into the system. One of the flathead had already been tagged in last year's event and in the twelve months since its last 'check up', had put on over half a kilogram in weight and grown over 100mm in length.
|All in all it was a fantastic, fun filled weekend for young and old with great prizes and a huge variety of piscatorial entries. Note: we haven't included an onshore report this week simply because with so many anglers on the water there were fish weighed in from every nook and cranny of the system.
