|ESTUARY: River report from Jimmy Free, Noosa River Fishing Safaris... "Hi Bill. The river still fished well considering how much rain we've had. Still catching good whiting, tailor and bream in the Frying Pan and golden trevally, whiting and bream at the mouth. Plenty of javelin fish, bream and the odd mulloway in the Woods Bays. Most of the sand banks along Noosaville also still holding whiting. Before the rain we fished Tewantin and up to Lake Cooroibah where we caught flathead, mulloway, whiting, bream and javelin fish. Pictured (below) is Tim from Kingscliff in Victoria with 45cm tailor and which he caught and released in the Frying Pan and a whiting going 40cm.
And Connor Power from New South Wales, who braved the rain with us on Saturday morning, is pictured with a 55cm golden trevally (below left) which he caught and released at the river mouth on a whitebait. One of five species he caught in just a couple of hours."
|There were also a few golden and diamond trevally on the prowl in the Current Line and the Woods Bays and mangrove jacks after dark around the back of Noosa Sound. And more goldens were reported on the bite around the first ski run at Tewantin while further up, jewfish were active in the deep holes just below the mouth of Lake Cooroibah. Ethan Arnot, above right, is pictured with a 55cm jewfish or mulloway which he caught and released in that area on a peeled prawn. He was on a Noosa River Fishing Safari at the time. Moving along, flathead were still out and about in Lake Cooroibah itself and mangrove jacks were on the bite between the lakes. The mud crabs, of course, were on the move throughout the estuary system. Please observe minimum size and gender regulations.|

|OFFSHORE: Not one of our better weeks. Lots of rain (Noosa received over 500mm between Friday and Monday), variable southerlies in the 20 to 25 knot+ range and a swell that topped the 3.0m mark pretty much sums it up. The wind and rain eased from Tuesday onward but with the swell still hanging around the 2.0m mark and taking on an easterly flavour, the bar crossing was for big boats only.
|The bar (see video above) was no place for the faint hearted and the dark, murky waters made it difficult to navigate. Not that anyone tried before Cougar One, Trekka 2 and Mal Hunt on Granite Express headed out on Thursday. As you can see, patience was a virtue. The bar was still a bit gnarly this morning but again, those who took their time had no problems. CLICK HERE for the latest bar report.
Last report and photo (above) from Trekka 2 skipper Mitch Bertacchini before the blow... "Hey Bill. We did a five hour to North Reef on Thursday. We had a steady southerly breeze with the current from the north to make things a bit difficult but we managed to put a few in the boat for the customers. We caught Maori cod, moses perch, grass emperor, squire and (as above) quality pearl perch to 60cm.
And above, from yesterday... "Hey mate. We did a seven hour trip on Thursday. We fished the top of Sunshine Reef for some pretty good results. Conditions were pretty good once outside the bar. There was still a bit of swell about but light winds made for generally calm seas after the bad weather we've had the last week. We caught pearl perch, snapper, tusk fish, Maori cod and moses perch."
|How good is this? Simply spend $100.00 or more at any one of the three Davo's stores and you'll be in the draw to win the fabulous $18,000.00 Boat/Motor/Trailer package featured in the video above. Winner drawn Saturday December 15, 2018.|
